Rough start but I’m pushing through. I’m not sure what this is? Maybe a hybrid cleaver/chef knife. OAL 11 inches. The blade is 6 inches long. .120 inch 1095 stock. I cold hammered the side for a hammered look. I will probably sand a bit more to bring out the texture.
im not sure what wood I will use for the handle yet. I’d like to try a saya with this. I never made one before. I may chose a curly maple because I can get wide thin maple for the says. I’m not sure if the light maple will be to much contrast with the dark knife. I don’t have a good eye for that sought of thing.

Favorite place to shape handle. On the garbage can outside my garage on a 1x30. No dust to clean up and I don’t waste my 2 x42 belts. I use an ice cube to keep the pin from burning the wood. I’m not sure if it’s doing anything but I hate when it burns. 6F635F6C-548B-4193-9236-F857916A9091.jpeg

Lookin pretty spiffy there, boss.

Thanks. . I have to figure out the way I want to hold the blade in. I think there are various ways. Like magnets, which I think is to late for that. I will probably do some sought of removable pin the goes through the saya and keeps the blade from falling out. I just need understand what keeps the pin from falling out. Lol

Always nice to come home to a new knife. With my limited photo taking skills I will share with you my 2020 KITH knife. Thank you Mark!

It is solid and sharp. As I use it, I will send Mark a pm. I am looking forward to disassembling a pineapple this weekend. Hopefully some bbq ribs.
