I bought this blade blank awhile back and put it in a walnut handle. At first I liked how dark it looked but for some reason it just didn't look right with that handle. The handle isn't finished yet so it will be alot darker once finished.
The blade is 5160, 15n20 and Ni200.
I decided to experiment and removed most of the origional dark etching and applied a mustard (French's yellow) patina. I really like the way it turned out compared to how it looked before. I realize it will change over time and might change it sometime in the future.
It is alot more colorful in person with alot more blue & rainbow colors the camera didn't show.
Has anyone else experimented this way? Thoughts good or bad?
