My first attempt at making a knife

So, here is my first attempt at knife making. Was toying with the idea of making a skinning knife to go along with the muzzle loader hunt. ( meaning here in Colorado it is a primitive weapon hunt, no scopes, no pelletized powder) so I took a "stab" at making a primitive camp/ hunting knife and this is how it turned out.
So would I do things differently.... yep I have all ready started 2 more and i am learning and having fun. Oh ya, forgot to mention I made the sheaths as well...

made out of 3/32 O1 starrett tool steel
used a coal fired forge to heat treat
my kitchen oven to temper (don't tell my wife)
the wood is bazillion walnut or IPEA wood (scrap from the father in laws porch)
the final edge was done by hand, on a stone...not sure if I like it

Cool. I like them. Were you able to use them on your hunt? Im pretty sure all the muzzle gun seasons are over aren't they? (Unless you use it in a rifle season)

thanks guys, i like the bottom one as well, the one on the right is my least favorite.

Cojab, nope didn't get to use them on the hunt....

Good work for first attempt looks alot better than my first thats for sure keep up the good work...oh and make sure to hang on to them always nice to look back on your first one

Looks good for a first attempt. Keep at it and perhaps you'll become a great knife maker. The one on the right looks the cleanest, but I like the design of the bottom one the most.
