Well this is my fifth knife and my first skinner. I am still learning so any constructive criticism will be respectfully accepted.

I reckon it looks pretty good. Nice handle shape and finish and blade design. Its hard to see the finish on the blade from the photo, but it looks like it would have improved with a handrubbed finish or further grinding. I'm being picky here though:) I bet your next one will look even better.:D

I only took the blade up to the 220 belt. The guy I made it for wanted a no frills user that will at least be used part time for shucking oysters. So I opted to leave it at 220. Plus I haven't done a hand rubbed finish yet... maybe the next one. Thanks for the input I do appreciate it...this forum is helping me improve on each new project.

I think the shape is great on the blade and handle. Really nice work, especially for only your fifth.

If I would change one thing, I would change the triangle shaped notch where the edge meets the ricasso.

I would make it rounded on the bottom instead of going to a point. It can be done easily with a round file. In my opinion a round notch looks neater and cleaner but also is less of a chance for a stress riser for a crack to start at the quench. The notches with sharp points in the bottom of them scare me. :)
