mycarta

I've only made a few micartas but when making paper micarta I'll use the Bondo fiberglass resin from Home Depot. It has an amber tint and horrid fumes to it, but works great. It didn't seem to work well for the linen micarta I've made but I think that was my issue having pressed it too much. I've also used it to make a casting for a colored resin handle and it came out well with easy polishing to a shine.

A lot of people have used West Systems resin but I've never used it. I do plan on it though as I've seen stress testing on it that is very promising and you can get it in a clear for the hardener.
