I've done one with wrought and 1084 and am working on one with wrought and 1095. I haven't had any problems with it welding yet.

That would be a great use of reclaimed wrought iron there. I have a couple of customers who often ask me to use recycled steel because it appeals to them. I have always refused because I will not sell knives made from reclaimed steel but stupid me never thought of san-mai. You get the best of both worlds there, new steel edge and reclaimed steel jacket. Thanks

cut a piece of the original part about 1/3 the way through, then break it. Looks like wrought something or another.
