HI,

I just found 2 pocket knifes today that i was hoping i could get some more info on.

The first is brown possibly made from antler? There are 2 knives, champagne knife, corkscrew, some type of hook im not sure what it is, and last is a leather punch i think. There is a silver plaque on the handle but it is completely smooth so if there was anything engraved it is no longer there. the largest main blade has "The Royal Hunt" inscribed on it (Looked this up but could not find anything about this). possibly it is a custom inscription. On the bottom of all of the tools it says G. Butler & Co. with a skeleton key. on the backside it says Sheffield England and also ART which is circled.

The next knife is the same handle, but with metal ends possibly brass? there is also a bow tie shape design on the handle. it is only 2 blades and on the large blade it says Sword Brand with the swords crossing. On the smaller blade it says Camillus Cutlery Co. Camillus NY U.S.A.

Any info on these would be greatly appreciated. I would like to mainly know approximate age, price estimate, and any formal model name if any. I am looking to sell these so it would be awesome to get some info ASAP!

Thank you!

You may want to check over on the forum "All About Pocket Knives" there are a lot of collectors of old pocket knives over there. They will probably be able to give you some more info.

If you do a search for G. Butler Sheffield, you should find a bit more info. Looks like the age could be anywhere from early/mid 1800s to around the 1950s. Find the right collector/buyer, and that's probably the more valuable of the two.

The second looks like a Camillus Swell End Jack, and if I had to GUESS, I'd say somewhere around 1940s to 1960s. In it's current condition, I probably wouldn't expect much for it.

I second the suggestion to check the allaboutpocketknives.com forums and see what those guys can tell you. There's a lot of collectors/enthusiasts with some older books that can help pinpoint age and info about the companies, as well as potential value.

I'd also suggest taking some better pictures, maybe outside in the sunlight. It's very hard to see much of anything in the pics provided, especially with the flash washing everything out. Good luck!
