New knife

Couple of pics of a new knife I started for my Dad. It's a file I found metal detecting the Hoosic Tunnel in North Adams MA. Trying a hidden Tang? Ground the bevels with a cheapo HF 1x30 free hand. Not bad for a first attempt? Some of the grind is a little off but I wanted to try it! Gonna leave the Poc marked steel at the top for effect. I would like to treat it with something to at least slow down the rusting, any suggestions??

Forced patina. Lots of ways. Ketchup, mustard, vinegar, etc. Or you can use commercial bluing.

Ketchup and Mustard humm, never would have thought. I guess they both have Viniger and Salt so it makes sense!

Yep. Do some Google searches. Some guys have made some pretty cool patterns using ketchup and mustard.
