This is a picture of a knife I recently completed for my nephew. He gave us a visit this summer and we had some time to get out in the shop and play a bit. He designed the knife and we got it profiled, rough ground and heat treated while he was here. I finished the rest of the knife and made the Kydex sheath after he left. This represents a few firsts for me. First 1084 from Aldo to use. First Kydex sheath to make and the first knife I did all the sharpening on my Wicked Wdge system on and first knife to use my newly designed stencil on. It was also the first time to use G-10 handles on. It turned out pretty good. I did some cutting tests with it and it cuts mamilla rope like a champ but had to be touched up again to shave after about 3 feet of tiny cuts in the rope. A little disappointed in that area. Thought it would maintain an edge longer than that. I heated it to a shade past non-magnetic and quenched in 120 degree canola. Tempered for one hour at 400. Any critiques or suggestions are always appreciated!
