After hand sewing the last batch of sheaths, I decided enough was enough and ordered a Cowboy Outlaw hand operated sewing machine. It came in this week, so I made a quick bench for it and got it set up.



I threw together a phone holster today. The machine worked great sewing through 5 layers of 8-9 oz leather.



So far, I'm very pleased with it. Easy to set up and simple to operate. I'm sure with a little more practice, I'll get better at it.

Gene I am happy for you. If all goes well I will have one after The Master’s Tournament in April. The fact that it was cancelled last year really hurt my pocket...So I had to wait until this year.

I cut a stitching groove in first, so it was pretty easy. Took about a minute to stitch.

Looks GREAT!! One of these days I'm gonna get a real machine! Right now I have one of those Chinese Cobbler machines. It works ok for what it is but the foot tears up heavy leather.

I am. I’ve practiced with the machine, but wasn’t confident enough to do it on the sheaths yet.
