I just finished this drawing in pencil:
bob-bozarth.jpg

And since August I've made 50 gallons of beer, 31 gallons of wine, 5 gallons of Apfelwein, and 1 gallon of mead. It isn't all done yet, but it's getting there.

And I've made a few knives (6 or so).

Anyone else do anything else interesting? What other hobbies do the Dogs have?

Wow Travis. Amazing drawing. You really need to look into some of the portrait types of engraving..,

That's some fine work, Travis. Don't know the last time I saw pencil work of that caliber. I'm an all-grain homebrewer myself but this last few years have been busy enough having a growing family that the knives are both my hobby and job at this point. And lately, as my physique will show, I'm really enjoying the Netflix.

You have talent with a Pencil!

The Mead sounds great? I've started turning wine stoppers and bottles openers. Sold all the ones I've made in the past six weeks. Pics soon as I turn some more. I grow Stag horn Fern plants, I have other hobbies.
More later.

No way !
That does look like a photograph. Let us know when you start engraving, I want in before you get famous and expensive. Myself, I've been known to make a few fishing poles over the years. Nice work.

Your talent is awesome!

Have you ever seen the guy on the Animal Planet show called the "turtle man"? That was my first thought when I saw your drawing!

Please don't take this wrong as it is not meant to be offensive. Your drawing looks like a slightly older version of the "turtle man"

Knife making and the woodworking that goes with it are my hobbies, along with photography and cooking. I really enjoy cooking, but couldn't find the knives I wanted for less than a day's wages. So..... I have started making my own.
For a job, I operate and fix several small forging machines. The two cold machines hit two parts(the parts weigh 3 to 4 pounds each) at a time with max force of 750 tons. The warm(1750F) machine only has a max force of 1600 tons. All this time I thought we forged parts because it is the cheapest way to make high volume(my work cell will make almost 7 million parts this year) precision parts(on some parts we must maintain a +/-0.05mm tolerance.) After reading some of the postings, I realize now we forge to get grain to go in the same direction and compress the steel so it is more dense(LMAO) SCARY PART: If you drive a Ford, Honda or Toyota I probably made pieces of your drive axle and cv joints.
