Tonight was an awesome night. I got several hours of work done, and just a little while ago, dad hands me this Buck 301. He said he doesn't ever remember it NOT bring in my granddads pocket and it was now mine. It's several decades old, the finish is worn slick, only the pen blade is still intact, but it is perfect. :D I sharpened the one blade and will carry it just like it sits.

This is different from some of his guns that I have because those were bought and put away. But this was with him every single day for decades. He put the scratches on it, the sharpening marks are his, the finish wore away in his pocket...

Despite other undesirable things happening today, in the end, today was a great day. :5:

That's a great lookin knife Brad. If I might recommend, pick you up a fine ceramic for touching up the edge from time to time. The ceramic wil be much less aggressive on the blade which in turn will help it to last another generation or three.

Congratulations brother. I can tell you're still smiling just from reaeing the tone of your post.

The edge was totally rounded, so I worked my way up to 1000 with my Lansky to keep consistent.... Would the 600 and 1000 be easy enough on the edge for maintenance? oh, and is it that obvious? :D

Frank, I know he always has coins and keys in his pockets too, and sometimes an old Colt 32 revolver... There are some nicks on the spine, and it is certainly well-worn, just evenly well-worn. :)

Thanks James..
