Quick-check hardness tester. Anybody ever use one of these?

I just came across this while I was searching for a real RH tester and thought I'd see what you guys thought. Anyone have some experience with one?
for the price, it seems it would be worth having one around.

This type of tester is used on really big things that do not move when checked like heavy equipment parts like big shafts or gears.

I got a good deal on one of these on ebay a number of year ago and they just don't work for knife size samples. It is hard to see how hard the ball bounces (the higher the harder) and when I could tell the measured hardness was much softer than the actual knife. I tried laying the knife on a solid anvil but still the device just doen't work for knives.
