Round Knife Steel

So I am planning on making a round knife for myself so I can use it for sheath making. I was told that L-6, M-4 or maybe 15n20.

I am shooting for a hardness of 61~62RC.

But I want 3/64" or 1/16" thick stock. I was curious if anyone knew where to find that stock size for L-6? I need it to be at least 4" wide.

thanks for any suggestions.

Brian,

I used O1 for this one. It's a 3" pattern knife I made a while back for a friend. Worked quite fine when it tested it. Blued steel with tiger maple handle. O1 is available online and at industrial hardware stores. You may even be able to get a piece from a local machine shop.

You might contact Ray kirk. I got a d2 prehardened blank from him. He also has 5n20 in a coil that is 6 inches or more wide he could cut you some off .

What can you tell me about the length from edge to the end of the handle?
