I just acquired a nice piece of steel...
It is 3/4" x 12" x 8 feet long, i'm pretty sure it's just mild steel.
I was thinking i could use some to make an anvil (until i can get a real one) and i'm going to use some of it for a later belt grinder build, but i don't really know what to do with the rest of it. Any ideas?

Congrats!

Last I checked, a piece that size should weigh around 240-250 pounds!

Lot's of projects for which it would be very useful.
Nearly any shop-built tool project requiring mass will find a use for something like that.
Belt grinder.
Disc grinder.
Tables.
Platens.
And much more.

Until I obtained an actual surface plate, I even used something similar to attach sandpaper for a flatter backing than what the wooden bench provided. (No matter how many different "power toys" we have, sanding by hand still happens!)

Be creative; think about what you need and want to build, and you'll soon find out that 8' isn't enough!

I wouldn't worry about what to do with it. Good steel always has a way of getting used up way to soon.

Yeah i noticed that! If i had to pay for it I wouldn't have been half as
happy about moving it.

I got it cut into useable pieces, or should i say "movable" pieces.
I'm already making a platen out of it.
