Hello Everyone,
I am making a large set of knives for a wedding party. They wanted the knives to be suited to things like hiking and knife survival courses. Durable, simple, and of course, fairly inexpensive (they ordered 9 - it adds up quickly).

So, these are my take on nice and very tough knives. A little style, but mostly something you can rely upon. I could have gone for a lot more in appearance, but they aren't able to pay for THAT kind of knife. This is what they wanted.

80CrV2 steel, just over 3/16" at the spine/ricasso. Lot of distal taper, flat grind with convex edge.
80CrV2 guard, textured and blued.
80CrV2 butt cap, heat treated and blued. The butt cap sits on shoulders on the tang, and it can be used for pounding (thus, the heat treatment).

handle - highly figured rock maple, stained with aqua fortis, and covered in tung oil then Ren wax.

In my opinion, the nice looking texture from forging and cleaning with angle grinder, the really cool wood, and the heat treated butt caps make these a little nicer-than-average. They are sure not high end, or even my highest end, but they are cool. This is what I wish I could have made when I made my first knife.

Hope you like. Comments welcomed. Thanks for looking.
Kevin
