Hello all of your knife Dogs & Dogettes.

I would like to say a deep heart felt thanks to all who sacrificed for this great country of ours since this nations inception so we have safety, freedom and opportunity.

I am heading over to the shop to exercise some of those freedoms by working on a few knife orders and catching up on some paper work.

My wife and I will enjoy a nice meal later in the day but first we will say thanks to our men and women that paid the ultimate price!

How are you observing the day?

What is Memorial Day? We don't have it here, it sounds like Remembrance Day. US soldiers saved us Brits so at any rate I reckon I should be doing something. How do people pay respect an the like on Memorial Day?

I think you just did... I gave my kid the day off so she and hubby could go to a Reds game sans kids. My grandkids are here with me getting ready for a cook-out after the game.

I am very grateful for those guys that keep me and mine safe and free while they are in harm's way. May God bless them one and all. ...Teddy

Liam,

I think you guys do call it Remembrance Day.
Like Teddy said, Its taking a moment to remember those that paid the ultimate price for our freedom in the western world and many other parts of it.

During WWII my father, when he was about your age flew in a B-19 bomber with the 8th Army Air force station in England to stop nazi germany from taking over all of western europe and then possibly the USA.

Many US & British soldiers have served in the current war on terror around the world as I'm sure you know since you mentioned you are planning on serving your country.
That recent tragic beating of a Brit soldier till death let's you know that we are far from finished with these extremists, They now seem to be home grown more all the time?

Liam, Teddy & Mikey thanks for posting.

My break is over and now it's time to sharpen that pile of customers knives I have here.
