Looking into purchasing a stamp for blades. just curious if anyone has used Steel Stamps, Inc out of Boise. It is just a hobby, and not really wanting to spend $150 to $250 for the Henry Evers custom stamp.

I have not dealt with that company but if you tell me what you are ordering (custom touch mark or off the shelf) I can give you an idea of how the price compares. The set I ordered was just to stamp my name on my blades. I ordered a stamp holder and the letters to spell my name. I more than likely spent very close to $150 for that set up. My first touch mark (10 years ago) was from Pieh Tools. It was an off the shelf anvil stamp with the initials RF over the top. I paid about $45 for that stamp and it still works today.

I have bought several stamps from Steel Stamps, really happy with mine and great customer service. I deal with Tim Purdy and he is top notch.

Here's what I use. the blade in the picture has already been heat treated and is only used to show how the stamp and fixture are used.
once the blade is clamped in the fixture you can beat on the stamp for a month of Sundays and still get a perfect mark. :D

That fixture and stamp are awesome!

I didn’t make that Bruce, I had a machine shop make that for me almost 30 years ago. I didn’t have a mill back then. It wouldn’t be hard to make one if someone had a mill and surface grinder. I paid around $100.00 for it back then and it was worth it, it works great. If I were to make one today I would make it wider and space the bolts a little farther apart.
