The Bone Collector

It is finally done, my first Khukuri. I still have the sheath to finish. I think it came out ok and hopefully the recipient (a good friend) will like it. I know now why these are held in such hi regards. I will definitely be making myself one (although not as fancy) in the future. But not right away, they are a lot of work.

Here are the specs:
Blade length: 13 1/4” OAL: 18 1/5”
Weight: 38 ¾ oz
Grind: Flat (Hollow for the small section facing the spine)
Steel: 5160
Handle: Redwood Burl (Stabilized) and Bovine Ivory (aka cow bone)
Fittings: Brass
Pommel nut: Stainless steel (304)

Great work on your Kukuri!
Rumor has it that this influence for this design goes back to the Greek Copis sword from when Alexander the great tried to conquer northern India.

I like the Brass and bone fittings too!
