Thinning leather dye for wood

What do you folks use to thin Fiebings leather dye that will be used to dye wood, specifically curly maple?

Thanks for any help.

I use denatured alcohol to thin it for both wood and leather. I generally mix dye to it 1:6. Then apply multiple coats letting it dry between coats till I get the shade I want.

I read a thread on a wood working forum to use Behlen Solar-Lux alcohol based "maple brown" dye that was diluted with denatured alcohol to really make the curly maple pop. They said apply dye, wait 10 minutes, then sand until color comes off. Repeat two more times but don't sand the last coat. After last coat is applied, dampen rag with denatured alcohol and wipe the workpiece to even out the color. When piece is dry, apply appropriate finish.

I wonder if this process could be used with the Fiebings dye?
