Looking for info on to put the stone washed look on a blade? tumbling with ceramic media, what type of ceramic media? there are many different types but which one do you use? I have also read that you can aluminum oxide blast the blade then tumble in ceramic media. Would like to skip the blasting part. any info on the subject would be appreciated.

I use harbor freight ceramic media and an old brass tumbler. I etch with ferric vinegar then spray it down with wd40 then let it tumble for about 2 to 3 hours pull it out and clean it up and fine steel wool it

I use harbor freight ceramic media as well, but in their large vibratory tumbler. I've also heard of guys using cement mixers.

Here's a pretty good example of the type of finish I get:

Here are the McMaster-Carr part numbers for the media I use. I use it in one of the 18-pound vibratory tumblers like Andrew.

10 lb. 4918A911 Ceramic Media V Cylinder
10 lb. 4918A918 Ceramic Media Triangular
