get three different steels like 1095, 440C and 114C28 for instance and build a 7' santuko I made out of CPM-154 and a 6" Utlilty/Petty like this one I made out of Devin Thomas Stainless.

These two patterns work well with each other as a chopping & slicing duet in the kitchen covering most chores. Then pass them around to friends and family for feedback and then go from there.
