I haven't done much of knifemaking the last couple of months. Not after the hurry of doing the wedding gift (http://knifedogs.com/showthread.php?9920-My-first-knife-from-scratch)
Spend my time with the dog and loosing weight this summer instead. So far i lost 23kg
Anyway, the other day i went out to the shop and started the grider. Oh, real fun! I'm on my 3rd blade now, and this time i took pictures of the progress for my friends at facebook.
I was thinkin I could put them here aswell.
Before I tried my first knife i spend hundreds of hours looking at forums how other people do it, and maybe my pictures can help somebody else.
Long before I started making knives I found a picture on a Swedish forum of a knife I really fell in love with.
So it was time to try my own version of it.
I think it was a Andy Garrett blade, and I have been inspired by that blade when i started this one.
Pictures:
Piece of ss-2090 (spring steel) 5mmx50mmx300mm
Grinded the surface so I could draw the design on it.
I used Illustrator the print the design.
To take the main part of the excess steel of i used my anglegrinder.
First pass on the belt grinder.
Second pass, now the shape is finished.
I use black spraypaint heat resistent as "scribe fluied" works great.
First pass on the edge. This is my first curved edge, so it was a little bit harder. But I learn by the way.
Hopefully somebody have some use of the pictures.
Sadly its night here now and i have to wait until tomorrow to continue. :49:
