Vacuum Chambers

Just thought I would share with you guys the vacuum / pressure chamber I run for a living while at work.We use vacuum and pressure to load and offload fluids in the oil field. Most oilfield fluids can't be pumped due to sheer or flash. So we use giant vacuum chambers.I run a 325
barrel rig .I'm going to make myself a small one for my knife shop one of these days. Here are some pics of my old war horse. The vac/ pressure is produced by two converted 454 engines that are spun hydraulically by a diesel pony motor, they have 4 way valves that depending how you position them create pressure or vac in the tank. There are also vent valves on the tank to release the vac or pressure.Just think of the amount of product we could stabilize if we could use it for a few days lol.

Sheer is what happens to a liquid if run through a stanndard vane pump,it chops it up and changes the molecules of the product. For instance type 4 aircraft deicer has to be blown on to aircraft with pressure and also transferred that way during shipment. Type 4 is meant to cling to the aircraft till a certain air speed and then peel away in one shot.If it were to be run through a vane pump and sheered it would change it on a molecular legal and wouldn't preform properly.

one batch could keep me in enough stabilized wood to last me a day or two lol. When you get around to building yours you should post it as a diy wip. I would love to see it.
