vibrating drillbits/spindle

With that much bad results it has to be a loose pulley or even just bad alignment of the pulleys and the belt is trying to climb from one groove to another. They are easy to line up and tighten the screws. Your's doesn't look any different than the three I use as well as a large one. Frank

Does the chuck wobble back and forth if you try and move it by hand when turned off?

i checked today and it doesnt

Frank, maybe, i will check the pulleys after i'm back, the belts seem to be good in their places tho

It could be a spindle bearing going out causing the drill to walk around which would cause your hole size to be bigger.. If the drill has been sharpened and the point is not in the center that can cause the hole to accually be bigger or smaller i have seen it at my machine shop.. If the drill or chuck has runout you can check buy buying a cheap mag base and dial indicator from ebay and check it all works great for making sure and getting your drill to run true.. Maybe i got something right on this..

thanks a lot guys

now that im back will have to do bit of testing, most of which i have absolutely no experience with! :)

I saw an inexpensive spindle brace attachment recently that braces/steadies the center portion of the length of your spindle to reduce run out. I believe it's a universal item but cannot now remember where i saw it...a search she turn it up.

thanks GWF but i honestly didnt understand a thing!! im new at this

i also checked and the pulleys seem to be firm in place, the entire drill press vibrates tho, and holes are tilted, even tho i didnt change the table and checked made sure its flat!

short? lets blame this on auto correct ;)

its true Laurence, the drill press is not bolted, but its never been to begin with, i have it on the floor loose actually but was working fine till a short while ago
