Wrought Iron ID

How do you ID Wrought Iron. I found some old Barn Honges and I thi k there WI but there real rusty so I cant see any layering. There for sale at a local Flea Market. I should have bought them but my cheapness over came me!! LOL!!

The layers are the only way I know of to be sure.

The only way I've read about is to cut it about half way thru then bend to break remainder to see the grain, sorta like a "green stick" fracture. Sometimes the outside of wrought iron looks like wood grain.....other than what Ken said, I don't know any other good ways to ID it.
