What's going on in your shop?

KnifeMakerTraining.com is back in filming mode! After a long layoff due to surgery and recovery, Tim showed up this morning, and we spent the entire day filming new video for KnifeMakerTraining! WOOT! Tim is upgrading to a new system/site, and we should have new videos available within a couple of days. Tomorrow morning Tim will be here again to film a "shop tour", and we're also going to get started on the remake of "Basic Bladesmithing". My plan is to be MUCH more in depth on this one, then the original. Going to do my best to cover every detail anyone will need to go from forging a blade, to completing the knife.

As soon as I have all the details for the new platform, I'll get the information out to everyone!

As for me.....feeling better than I have in a decade, and back to being passionate about knife making and teaching!

That's great! I can't imagine the pain level along with the willingness to help us all out...that alone was enough reason for best educator votes! Hope you have a really great year!

I'd been in pain so long, that I'd forgotten what it was like to feel "normal". Up until the surgery, I was just doing what I could, and spending WAY too much time just trying to keep the pain under control. I'd have to say that now..... I'm a brand new man! :)

OH! Before I forget, Tim has been working is behind off on the KnifeMakerTraing.com site. He completely scrapped the old site, rebuilt it on a new platform, and I'm not sure he's even slept for the last couple of days. :) The site is back up and working now. It's now easier to use, and much more secure for purchases. There is also a new URL.... http://www.legacystudioproductions.net/knifemakertraining/

If anyone has ideas for "how to" videos they'd like to see, let me know!

Congrats on the new shop. Thats awesome. Looking forward to seeing pics as stuff gets moved in.
Since Im building a new shop right now, I like to see what tools others utilize and how they lay out and organize.

Really nice shop Ty!

My little shop got some work done to it over the weekend. Painted the ceiling white and started hanging drywall...which I hate doing! I have been putting off finishing this space for my shop since we moved but I cant take the difunction anymore in order to turn knives out faster and not pull my hair out I have to finish it and get permanent work benches installed.

OH WOW Ty!!

If my suspicion is correct.....there's a bathroom there too? That's awesome! I wish I'd had the forethought to put a bathroom in either of my shops....it would have saved me hearing "Go directly to the shower!" from my Mrs., every time I walk in from the shops! :) (even if I could only wash my face and hands before goin in the house!)

Justin - I am not a know it all but you may wish to check on that cold air return before you start grinding in that room. I take it that you are putting that in your basement?? I would be scared to death of grinding dust getting into my furnace set-up.

The furnace is not in this room. That duct work is pushing air out. The vent you see will not be opened. Plus my grinder is on a cart and I try to do most of my grinding outside. I would think that duct work is sealed up good enough as to not allow any to suck into it dont you think?
