The Newell .45 cal front loader

Ok now I'm dying to see this finished. I got the email saying there was another post to here and thought 'Yes its finally done!!!' but it was just another tease. Can't wait to see it all finished up.

Over 21,000 views, are you kidding me?

Bruce,
Take a look at the number of views on this thread. It's absolutely incredible. Without turning this into the mutual admiration society, I have to say that I know of "no greater tribute to an artist than the constant desire to see his work again and again".

Nothing else to say................

I do know how to keep em coming back dont I" :D

Thanks Steven.

I should have some pictures up in a couple days. I plan to take this pair to the Oregon Show this weekend and will put them together just for that show but afterward need to send the parts out for hot gun bluing. It just goes on and on. This thread is far from finished but its come a long way. I wonder if there is a prize for the longest WIP? :D

Very Cool Project!!!

Bruce, this is really a cool project! I wish I could check it out personally, but won't be going to OKCA. You and Ken are a good match for your projects.
Thanks for taking the time to photograph and write up the saga. You are an inspiration!
In fact I just started on something that you have inspired. (I will post it at some point.)
The guest room is still ready anytime you would like a place to stay.
Thanks again.
Alden

Hi Alden,
We've been wracking up points on our Cabella's card so we may just take you up on your guest room offer.
Thanks for the kind words. I'm curious now....what kind of project did I inspire? Does it need black powder and go boom?

If all goes well.:)
You shall be the first to know when I finish it.

Keep up the good work and the WIPs!

OK, I put it back together and shortened the ram rod as far as I could. It was protruding out beyond the muzzle and that bugged me too much. The trigger return spring is right at the end of the ram rod and bumps it so I had to shorten it also.

I still need to add more tension to the main spring, make all new screws, gold plate the trigger, send out the gun and bowie parts for hot bluing and color case hardening. While its gone I hope to finish the glas top storage case interior. I also want to make two screw drivers and a nipple wrench to include in the kit.

This project is nearly finished at least there is light at the end of the tunnel. Its been fun hasnt it?

WOW, thats all I can say. I'd swear you outdo yourself with each new project.

MY GOODNESS BRUCE, that is absolutely beautiful! It is crazy that you made that from scratch. You have some crazy mad skill. I have said it before and I will say it again, YOU ARE THE MAN!! It is good to have someone like you to up to & have a little hope that maybe one day I might have 1/2 of you r skill.

Thanks Shane. And to think I just used a hack saw, files and sandpaper. :D

Actually it was easy enough, I think the real secret is to be completely obsessed with this kind of work for about 20 years and things start to come out right. It does help to quit your day job too.

Improper tool choices

Bruce,
You just solved my problems, I've been using the wrong tools all along. I only have a rusty butterknife and a pair of my grannies broken toenail clippers.

I gotta get to Harbor Freight!!!

I cant imagine what grannies toe nails look like if they break clippers useless1

I think my punctuation was incorrect, because the clippers were used for HER broken toenails. You see dear ol' grannie made homemade peanut butter by stomping on them with her bare feet and as she got up in years the poor dears nails became brittle and would sometimes break during the peanut stomping process. This, of course, forced her to change the labels to "CHUNKY STYLE".
She was eventually forced out of business by the great toe jam epidemic of '42.

It's a sad story, really.

I may never eat peanut butter again after reading this.

Hi Bruce.
Is this set going to be professionally photographed?

Hi Kevin,
Yes, this set needs good photos taken. My hopes are it will be in "Handgunner" magazine someday. I like that publication. They love pistols and knives both and I bet they cant resist this set. My only fear is what if I get orders for more? I've been working on this set since October of last year and its not done yet.
