Mammoth for a Father and Son

Beautifully done. Very clean. What kind of feedback have you received from the new owners? Sheaths look great. I've tried that arrowhead pattern and it isn't so easy. They look very well done also.

    Knife number 3

Job well done. The only odd thing is the knife looks distorted from the photo. I don't know if it just how it shows on my screen but it's difficult to see the actual proportions. Besides that, you have done a fine job for a third knife. I am working in mine currently.

Warped a blade...I'm sweating it now

I'm a new guy Barry, the tang seemed like a good idea at the time. The ricasso is short because I did go back and use a round file. Live and learn. I have a pile of time into this blade (no grinder), so I hope I can salvage it.

Warped a blade...I'm sweating it now

Thanks Barry. I did get the 'banana' warp out of the spine with the clamped temper cycle but there was also a warp in the edge that was a bit different. So I will clamp it up again to try to get that out. I'll consider myself lucky if I can get this blade straight. Either way I'm going to...

Warped a blade...I'm sweating it now

So my third knife is heat treated and it warped in the process. Being a new maker, I was not fully prepared for dealing with a warp so I did what I could. I sandwiched it between two steel blocks during my first temper cycle. It didn't straighten out. I bought a toaster oven today and I have...

Antler handle, your opinions to dye this shed

Thank you for the info gentlemen. I think I am going to play with the chewed parts of the antler and attempt a couple of different methods. Potassium permanganate looks like a common method. I'll have to track some down.

Antler handle, your opinions to dye this shed

Hello Everyone I found a Mulie Antler shed recently that I am using on a stub tang knife. It is bleached but not chalky. I have researched different methods of staining antler including using wood stains, leather dyes, scorching, and potassium permanganate. What I haven't found much of is...

    Finished My Third...

Very nice, now I have to step up my game for my third knife. From here the whole package looks good; design, finish, and symmetry are all there.

    Drop point hunter

Nice and clean. The porportion and profile looks good to me. The knife looks comfortable in hand as you have rounded out the handle well. I like a basic knife with a hamon as it gives it a sort of rustic character without being fancy in my opinion. Well done.

Ever See a Handle that Needed a Knife?

I've been wondering two things: how you're making these great knives in only 4 months and where you find the time? A question for you, what are you grinding with? I need to speed up my process...
