    ats34

Scott, just saw your post so may be late but will give my 2 cents as I use ATS34. You could attempt a redo at pre austentizing temp to straighten but you would have to straighten with no foil wrap so would have to deal with the scale at some point... but...stainless is more brittle than standard...

    File work

You can just be sparing with the epoxy on the edges where the file work is and then pick out any epoxy that oozes into it before it sets up. I prefer the look of epoxy filled file work in the handle area so do not do that anymore. Also use the black epoxy die Boss sells so epoxy is very black...

    Ti Stag Liner Lock

Thanks a lot for the kind words Ed, Frank, Bill, Fred, and Keith! May have to make a couple fixed knives just to clear my head though... Paul

What are your favorite blade steels? Why?

Agreeing with Hunter here- I like ATS34 (154cm) for edge holding and corrosion resistance (and fact that I have lots of it). Also have CPMS60V for folders and it has that nice cpm fine grain and sharpens like a razor. For a general use sheath knife I like 440C, for the ease of sharpening and...

    Ti Stag Liner Lock

Just finished this for my "stock". The Ti and stag is kind of unusual combo but the heat coloring makes it look pretty good I thought. It has a super smooth action, good lockup and easy one hand operation. Specs: 3.75" ATS34 .125 thick rc62 blade, micro-roller bearings, fileworked, heat colored...

    Chef in Koa

Love the koa with the white spacers and with a fine edge like that it will make a fine carver and have beef to chop too.

    Jigged Bone Hunter

That's a nice size knife and well executed. I think some makers take the small thing too far though- been to shows were guys have tables full of what looks like highly crafted paring knives with mammoth tooth handles, etc. which are too small to handle much of anything.

    grinder motor question

If wanted to go cheaper than the lovejoy there are many of 5/8" ID x 3/4" OD shaft adaptor sleeves available from mechanical supply houses and ebay for around $25. I did bigger version of this on my big grinder with a 7/8" ID x 1 5/8" OD adaptor so could run a sleeved 8" x 3" steel drive wheel...

    D2 Burl Bowie with Sheath

Thanks Boxer Bill. I know selling knives in here is a bit like selling refrigerators to eskimos so try to keep prices down so can sell a knife once in a while....

    2 ironwood and 2 dymondwood

Very nice batch of knives- like all of 'em but the ironwood ones are my favorites too with the guards.

    4th folder project

Great rugged looking tactical- the deep finger groove would make it very secure in hand. You mentioned the micarta changes color easy- one tip I got here was to put a coat of tru-oil on micarta to seal it from blood, etc and darkens it up some in good way. one other thing- how did you get a 14%...

    new working

Very nice knife- like the damascus and handle look. Just curious why you don't have a maker's mark on your knives- if I made those I'd want my name on it!
