to grind or not to grind.....

Hello fellow dawgs, I'm in need of some advice.... I have a ton of blades to prepare for heat treat (Peter's) and would like your opinion on whether to grind prior or post. The OAL is 7 inches and the blade is roughly 3" long 1/8" thick and 7/8" wide. I'm using stainless. Thanks in advance.

Official Summer 2013 KnifeDogs Knife in the Hat Thread

Mark, thanks for taking the time to do this. I hope that everyone is able to get their knives out in time. I've done some other swaps and ended up short-changed; its always a horrible and infuriating experience.

One Step Forward, Three Steps Back...

I have the same issue where some days it seems like my hands and brain are severed from each other. I've learned to take a step back and not try to force it; rather I go and log some time on the lathe or one of my other money pit hobbies. Clear your head and just let if I'd you (I swear I'm not...

    1084 ht

How thick is the stock you're starting with? Personally, I heat treat 1/8 and under prior to grounding with great results and less warpage. As for heat treating it, check out Kevin Cashen's site: http://www.cashenblades.com/steel/1084.html

    perfect plunges

Mike, you're right. Those BB File guides are awesome. I bought one a few weeks ago and its the best 120 I've spent in a while. Jason, I've had to make sure that my platen has even sides and that there is nothing to interfere with guide when cutting my plunge lines. Be careful when you move up...

    G Flex Epoxy

Thanks Laurence, I did read it before hand but have noticed that real world experience tends to differ, even if slightly, from their specs. On another forum it was suggested that it can be put into smaller bottles and the remainder can be put in a cool dry place away from light and have it...

I did two deployments to Iraq totaling 27 months during which we lived at police stations with Iraqis and began to pick up the language. Our interpreter would also teach me Arabic in exchange for Spanish and French lessons ( basic conversational French).

    G Flex Epoxy

I'm picking up more epoxy and am wondering which would be best, multiple small bottles (8 oz) or one large set (32 oz)? How is the shelf life on it? I've used the smaller bottles but they don't last me long enough to really test their longevity. A larger bottle would probably be around the shop...

    Shipping Etiquette

Shkor, I've had a few blades that had minor cosmetic flaws that I didn't want to fix because, honestly, I was sick of the blades (I ground 25 of the same type) so I sold them at a discount and took very detailed pictures. I made sure that the buyers looked the photos over very carefully and made...

I got his KITH knife last year. No complaints here as the fit, finish and sheath were great. I use it daily in making my own sheaths and there is no issues to speak of.
