    Mark, I use Devcon 30 min. epoxiy 2 ton grind little notches in the tang and in the frame, or you can drill thruew the tang and use some pins, will guarantee the epoxiy will hold, have taken one apart for a friend and one of my own, had to heat the blade until I could pry it lose with a bar.     sloppy guard problems

    Weatherman, if you have a good drill press you mite think about a small x y table it will let you drill holes in a straight line, may let you use a mill bit taking light cuts, depends on the quality of the drill press, and use a spotting drill to start your holes.

    This is the knife that I had to remove the handle , had little damage from the process the blade is 308 & 15 n 20 one tough piece of steel, has two nickel silver bands with a bronze center, mammoth scales with domed pines, nickel silver sheath with a damascus overlay.

    Guys thanks for all your input on my problem I do appreciate it, what I did was heat the blade close to the bands with a heat gun long enough fore the heat to run up the tang then put it in the vice with leather pads, left room to get a bar and a leather pad in and used a 24" bar to pry it loose...

    I have had a mishap, has anyone found a way to remove a framed handle that has been put on with Devcon 30 min. 2 ton epoxies it has mammoth scales would like to save them, soaked in lacquer thinner for 12 hr. no luck, did one for a friend heated the blade until it came lose, that may be my only out.
