    Scroll cutting doodle

Good morning Paul. Sure wished some of the oldtimers work was out there to look at. I have been to the King museum in Sheridan once. Don King collected a lot of really nice work from all over, sure worth the time to look at. Never looked at so many leather tools before. There is a leather...

    Scroll cutting doodle

Awhile back someone was interested in learning to scroll cut. I mentioned that I had a peice of my uncles work who influenced the way I scroll cut. Someday I might get half as good. I held my old HTS swivel knife in the picture to show what his favorite knife & blade looked like. This is...

Ambi sheath for Reese Ti tanto

No, I've never heat treated the ones I've made. They are mostly out of the rack round stock. The hammer end will bell out over time but I'm talking a couple thousand hammer blows.

    Horsemans sheath.

Chef There are a couple books out there that you can get the basics out of. It's easyer to learn the knots if you have someone show you but they can be learned from the books. The Bruce Grant book Encyclopidia(sp) of Knots is a good one for referance. There are a few tools you need to have to...

Ambi sheath for Reese Ti tanto

Charlie Mike Those cooper belt rivets are the strongest rivet out there. I use lots of them on saddles. You can make a tool that domes them and gives them a complete different look. Center punch the end of a round piece of steel the same dia. as the size rivet your using (5/8 rod matches...

    Horsemans sheath.

Caught again. Yeah I've been working on them for a couple years. Of course not all the time, a knot here and there as I had time. I never keep track of time when it comes to braiding. A guy might quit if he realized he was making 10 cents a hour :^)

I just put those in for wallpaper, thought it might set the knife off. Those split reins are my wife Cindys christmas gift. There's a strand of 4mm climbing rope in them for a strong core. They have 8 strands of kangaroo lace over that and then 17 buttons on each side. I still have to braid...

    Horsemans sheath.

I guess I should have saved a training hide this winter. :^) It might be real nice rawhide. I do have a patch of lion skin (hair on) for the shelf of my bow. I need all the MoJo I can get. looking forward to seeing what you do with those bones. I've never tried one of those rawhide...

Hummmm, lion rawhide-- now you got me thinking. With a little cat hide a guy could maybe land on his feet every time. :^)

Bruce, I couln't believe it when you first pulled that outta the handle. I've told so many people about that knife. That one is just the definition of cool. It was really a treat to get to work on the sheath for that one. I don't know if I told you but that is horse rawhide in that chevron on...

    Horsemans sheath.

Hi Bruce, Thanks for the kind words. Your the one responsible for getting me to learn how to do anything more than a work sheath. I think that bottom one is a sheath- knife combo I've kicked myself for not taking pictures of. Is it the knife that has the little blade in the handle? I didn't have...

I just finished a blade and simple sheath to go with a 1918 vintage 94 winchester carbine. I tried for a knife and sheath I thought would fit that time in this country. Big enough to split some kindling but small enough to peel a elk. The sheath I thought needed to be a high carry to clear the...

How many sheaths did you have to make...

I'll have to remember that one Chef. The look of quality also has to say function to me. Some of the leather work that is plain but has that fit & finish will always catch my eye. If it has features that I know will bring function to it's peak then I know the maker is building from...
