I’ve decided one of the knives will get red morrel burl with black g10 liner. I’m considering using crosscut carbon fiber for the other blade. Second picture is the morrel with some epoxy on it. Third picture, just had to add it, is our first and only grandchild we visited this past weekend in...

    Von Gruff KITH WIP 2.0

That is definitely one of those things that makes handmade craftsmanship have a heart and soul or blood, sweat, and tears a part of the final product. Hours and hours of work in the scrap box has lead the way on many of my blades as well. I’m sure your new KITH will be cherished by anyone.

... breaking news... bro just told me the final product won’t have stamping (as of now). He is going for the ‘ luxury Italian wallet feel’ which requires a smooth , no stamp finish.

The tru oil finish is looking great. I don’t use tru oil a lot but like how it looks and actually like the smell. I haven’t tasted it yet. The character in the wood is really coming out!

Honest input is definitely welcomed! I don’t disagree with input on the skull stamp. I honestly don’t think it’s his thing either. It seems to be popular and so he incorporates it sometimes. The design is the primary goal. He has pondered over a few. I suspect he will make one of the other...

As mentioned, my brother does my sheaths. Here are a couple WIP pictures of his first prototype. We are not sure if this is what the final product will be. He will build this out and carry it around a little to see if he is satisfied.

Finally made a decent file guide

Looks very nice. A file guide is one of those ‘most valuable players’ in the knife shop in my opinion. Pays to have a nice one like you just made.

Good input. I’ll give that some study. I do like to have the grain match on left and right scale (book match). However some grain patterns you can’t tell and so the effort is wasted. I’ll check it out. Thanks.

    Von Gruff KITH - companions

Nice grouping. That there represents a lot of time in the shop. That’s about six months of work (fun work) for me. Nice.

    Damascus hunter

Wow, I really like that knife. The wood matches the blade well. Walnut maybe?

I think this one is ready for a handle. I don’t think I’m going to use the wood it’s sitting on. There would be too much waste. Need to find something smaller so there is less waste. It will have a black g10 liner.

    Buffer

My first experience associated with knife making and buffers was in a knife making class. There was a separate buffing room with about six buffers. Two of us rookies were mirror polishing our blades when an apprentice came in to buff a guard. Us rookies were very careful and safe. The...

Help us design our next sticker

Knife makers know harness and toughness. Skull pics seem popular. Accompany the phrase with a skill pic.

Coming along great. I think the notch tip from boss dog is something I need to apply. I have been doing it during the profiling just as you did.
