    Micarta or G10

    Warped Stock

So I ordered some steel from my favorite steel supplier and upon opening the package, every piece had some bad bowing and twisting in the 48 and 36" bars. The bars are stainless so they must be sent out-of-house for heat treat making it a nightmare (darn expensive) to have them straightened at...

I'd hate to tell you but the majority of the time those blocks are still green or only partially dried. The wax is meant to allow them to dry slowly and reduce checking and cracking. You may also want to think about stabilizing your block once its dry to forgo the sealing/finishing process...

working with Black & White Ebony for scales

Check your moisture content before you start cutting into it. When its dry enough, shape it and finish it to a high grit. Seal it with your choice of finish as it has a tendency to move depending on how much white it has. I've had pieces crack along the darker veining when not sealed right.

    Hello From a Wood Addict

Sorry about the site, I've fallen behind on it trying to finish a few larger orders that came in last week. It will be up and running in the coming week. For those who asked, here is a tiny sneak peek of the wood to come from this batch. These are some test pieces that I ran earlier to see how...
