    H/F bandsaw mods

Iam a hobby knifemaker. I got a H/F metal cutting bandsaw. I knew I was just going to use it in the vertical position, so I decided to make a seat for it. And it went on from there. Here are pics... This turned into a much longer project. The oiler system was made with parts I had...

Everyone... take care of your bodies.

You're on the right track---but to much of a good thing. After my heart attack in 1984 and a triple by-pass, I was told to exercise to develop corollary circulation in the heart. I hated to exercise and tried walking (both outside and at a mall), tried a gym, and nothing worked out for me. Took...

    Programing an oven

I am a new maker that is using 1084. I have a couple of ovens (left over from another life) and they are both programmable. My questions are: 1. In normalizing, can I program a routine that will allow me to take it up to 1600, stop and let it cool for 2 hrs, then take it back to 1500 and let...

    ABS Hammer In this weekend

Hey Neil..I had so much fun it should be illegal. The pay-it forward idea was a huge success. Many, many thanks to all the sponsors who sent in items for the table. I posted what my plans were and all of a sudden I started getting messages that I should expect packages for the'table'. I...

    Pay It Forward help

I am going to the ABS Hammer-in this weekend. I am allowed one table. I have gone through my shop and supplies and my table is going to be a 'pay it forward table'. It is for knife makers who are new, on hard times, or for whatever reason, they can use something on the table. The cost will be...

I am really excited about going to the ABS Hammeri-in in Troy Ohio this weekend. I will have a pay-it-forward table with supplies, all the proceeds going to abs. I will also have some buffing motors, new flex shaft machine kits, some other tools and maybe a knife or 2 for sale. So look for a...

People who blatantly and fraudulently sell knives as hand made when they are blanks..

Thank you for your responses. I decided what I will become in the knife world 'a custom knife collaborator". In every industry, 'subs' are used, like electricians, plumbers, and the like. The contractor gets the credit and one of the reasons is because he uses great subs. He will be proud to say...

People who blatantly and fraudulently sell knives as hand made when they are blanks..

What about the markings on the blades? Should the signed on one side by the 'bladesmith' and the other stamped with the makers mark? Or, just marked with the maker's mark? What you all consider 'ethical'. This is very important to me. The reason is because a year ago I decided I wanted to get...

    Disc Cutter, sheet metal ?

Mark, a lot of the disc cutters out there are for thin and non-ferrous metals. Make sure that the disc cutter you chose is for ferrous metals. The disc cutters I use will only work for up to 22ga well and up to 16ga. with a hydraulic press, and this has only been with non-ferous metals. ...Teddy

    Surface rust removal

Anyone have an easier way to remove surface rust from equipment, other than sanding. I just bought a 3/4 hp drill press and the center shaft is covered with surface rust from sitting in his garage. It's runs great as is. Since time is my enemy, I am looking for a quicker way remove this rust...

My knife sale show this weekend

Your knives look great to me. I see a problem with them in trying to market them at a 'craft' show. They are not signed. Your signature on a knife shows you are proud of it. People like that and it adds to the value, My .02 only. ...Teddy
