New forge - feedback on what you see

New forge - new video uploaded 8-13 Hi all! I don't get around here much anymore, but thought I'd drop in and try to get some feedback. I'm working on a new forge, a bit bigger than the Atlas. It's an 8" steel tube with IFB for insulation. This is done by jigging up 2 bricks side by side...

    My son's first damascus billet!

Recent upgrades to the burner on the Atlas mini forge prompted a small hammering session over at Dave Larsen's. Graham made this billet of cable damascus. The forge we used was the first forge I made. Straight in the side, no angle, so many improvements since this forge. I can't wait to try...

    Son's knife #3 - Kirinite Santoku

Graham,13, just finished this for his mom for Christmas. He bought the blank at the hammer-in last August and did the bevel that day. He originally did white scales, but decided he liked the orange better. He's done 99% of the work himself, but Dave Larsen sharpened it. He originally had a 400...

Been here a while, time to introduce myself

My name is Charles, and I designed and built the Atlas Knife Company etchers and mini forges, named after my son, Atlas. When I build a bigger forge, it will be called the Graham, after my other son. I live in Iowa and like to fish and play catch with the boys.

Full blade covered electro etching - advise?

Working on this for a wedding present. This was a test of the spray urethane clear gloss and needle scribing. It turned out great, except for some corners that flaked off, noticeably on the "r" in Cory and Patricia. Any advise?
