Made this drop point skinner from a file that used to belong to my great-great uncle. He passed away in the 70's so I feel confident that the steel was decent enough for this critter. :biggrin:

9" OAL
File blade knife
Convex grind
Mesquite wood scales w/tung oil finish
Copper clad steel pins

This is the blank I cut and ground prior to HT

Sorry Bob, the knife is to be presented this weekend to my Uncle that gave me the tools from the great-great uncle. He has no clue I did this. He's in pretty bad health and I figured I'd get this done since this may be his last deer season.

JKR, if ALL goes as planned I should have a few coming soon that I made from scratch, and a couple of blanks that I am modifying and scaling.

Hopefully one of the near future finished knives will be the blade I forged at Bob's a few weeks ago! Almost afraid to take it to my little grinder! :15:

After I finish the edge on the little knife I made for my mother ( modeled from a soapstone carving of a knife she bought in Sweden in the 70s) I'll post it... Maybe tonight.
