Jeff between you and Bill and the orange G10 I will drive myself wild. Love that color and the knife looks great so far. Like your forge, mine is a one brick.

i think it depends on what you are aiming the knife for.
but personally i think ironwood. :)

spiffy looking blade thus far though.
:)

Given your idea this is a field knife you don't want to lose, I'm all for the orange G-10. But really - you can't go wrong with any of the choices.

The only custom knife I ever bought from the maker has orange G-10 scales on it. I bought it for my son, who's an avid camper. The knife is by Erik Boese and has a magnesium fire rod in the handle. Very cool. But can you believe it? He lost the knife (for a while) in his apartment! :D

Now that's just funny!

Looking forward to seeing the progress!

Great looking knife, and I love orange G10, for the same reason you mentioned. My brother inlaw has lost more knives than most people ever own, so I made him a guthook with orange G10, it is still with him after 2 years.

Jeff,

I am very new to making knives so excuse me for these simple questions. Are you heat treating that knife first and then grinding or are you annealing that piece of steel?

I am trying to absorb as much knowledge as possible so i will be watching the progress on this thread.

Paul
