My opinion is......20 mule team works.....Anhydrous Borax works better.....and Medical grade Anhydrous works the best.
The main problem with 20 mule team is the moisture content...it boils and falls off the workpiece when applied, meaning you must you A LOT of it.
Anhydrous Borax is often used in pottery operations, and for a few years now I have been buying mine from Seattle Pottery, in 50lb bags, which lasts me 9-12 months.
Bill Burke, at one time, had a huge supply of Medical grade Anhydrous Borax, which I dubbed "Magic Powder"....because whenever I had a weld that would not take, or a cold shut open up on a billet, all I had to do was heat it, sprinkle it down with the Med Grad Anhydrous, and re-weld it.....to date it has never failed me.
