I am not sure this "CRAZY ANT" is what I am seeing in my yard here in NW Florida but, I have been noticing something new in my yard! The grass which is not nearly as pristine as it has been in years back and the yard seems to have a lot of areas where the grass is thin and you can see the dirt! I have been noticing that here on my 1 1/2 acres, that anywhere you can see the ground the ants seem to be milling. :what!:
While I am standing waiting for the dog to do his business and I mean this is a big dog and he is twice a day regular, "if you know what I mean"!
I have been noticing the ants are traveling different than I have ever seen before. Instead of in two lines like I normally see them do! You know they normally travel in one line to a source of food and one back to the den, kind of like a two lane highway. But these ants I have been watching are traveling "Willie Nilly" you might say, kind of like something has destroyed there orderly paths. But I have also noticed these seem to be a slightly smaller ant than I am used to seeing, and they are everywhere! I have also noticed all of the sudden I do not have the big ant mounds that I usually have in my yard. :confused2:
I do know my daughter lives about 20 minutes from me and she has been invaded with ants. It got so bad they were invading the house and biting my grand baby's, so she had to have her place professionally exterminated for the ants. The pest company that came to spray here yard and house guaranteed it for one year. They were also talking about these "CRAZY ANT'S". So here is a little info on them!

Has anyone else here in Fl. or Texas, (as they seem to be migrating from that way, by the story), noticed anything weird with the ant population? Good God I thought the fire ants were bad enough but according to the article these will kill anything including the fire ants. I thought the part about electrical shorts was a real gasser too!!!!!! And poor fluffy staked out in the yard is just like bait for the lion by the article!
When I noticed the ants in my yard acting different I just thought this was just an indication of another bad year for hurricanes! But after reading this article I am really beginning to wonder if this is the "CRAZY ANTS" beginning to invade the area!
