ATS34 and Micarta

I am almost done with this one. Still need to sharpen up and Get rid of some yellow blotches on the micarta. I am not sure if it is the micarta or I burned it. I tried sanding with 120 grit and it is still there. Any ideas that could work? I also bought a scotchbrite belt and am trying to get a continuous satin finish.

i think you can buff the micarta at a very low speed on your buffer

Nice looking knife Frank2thumbs Burgundy Micarta is one of my most favorite handles. It is extremely easy to burn the Micarta and if you do you have to sand it pretty good to get rid of it. Slow speed and sharp belts is the key. Take it down to 600 grit and you can give it a scotchbrite hand finish or buff it for a deep shine.

It looks good. You definitely burned it. I use the Norzon belts that Tracy has. They work better than anything else on Micarta. I go 60, 120, 220, then hand sand at 400 grit. You have to use new belts on the Burgundy or it will burn every time. Hope that helps.
