Hi I've got a quick qestion.

Will I ruin my bandsaw blades if I run them on the highest speed on a three speed hf vertical bandsaw?

I'm using vari tooth bi metal blades and cut 5/32'' thick cpm 154.

I have a lot of blades to cut and only one sawblade left...

Regards
Jakob

Been wondering the same thing. How much use should I expect from a good bi-metal blade used at the right speed?

Running on the slow speeds a GOOD blade will last a very long time. A very, very long time if you use cutting fluid or oil.

Thanks fo all the answers!

you need to run it at the slowest speeds. it needs to be under 300 fpm

The slowest speed on the saw is 80fpm and the fastest is 200fpm.

Today I've been running it on 120fpm and cut out about 35 blades.
I'm using a bit cutting fluid for each blade, but not much.

Should I slow it down to 80 instead?

Regards Jakob

Some makes of blades are meant to NOT be lubricated and run better dry, I know, hard to believe, but true.
