Best coating for a tactical hawk

ion-bonding, (aka) DLC coating. In my opinion, everything else pales in comparison. Only possible drawback really, is the need to send the parts out for the treatment.

I am going to go ahead and say that I wouldn't coat them at all but would hot blue them or I would etch them black. You wouldn't paint a ladder, it's the same idea.

Is there a vendor you've used for DLC coating? I've always been curious about DLC and would like to try it if there is a vendor who will do single pieces or small volumes.
 
My two cents worth- Hot blue or the old muzzleloader standby- browning. The borwning would fit nicely in tactically.
