A few years ago, Gudy (van Poppel from poplblades) and I discussed a lot about using ballbearings in a folder. We did try some different types, but didn't use it in production. Up until now, for Gudy started his tactical line. We figured out how to make an easy to make and reliable system. And I must say, it came out about perfect. A very smooth action with no play on the blade.
You can compare the flipperaction with a strong automatic knive.
Naturally I was challenged to make one myself. The pictures shows the result.
Blade : ATS34 4mm thick, 105mm long en 32mm wide
Handle : Titanium 130mm
Clip : Titanium
Spacer : Blue/black G10
Ballbearing: Hardened SS 1.5mm +/- 50 pieces. And no, it's NOT the "IKBS system"
Kind regards,
Martin
