this one was inspired by the old Schrade Sharp Finger design. 8" long and cut from 1095. acid etched finish. scales are bison bone, cut and dyed to mimic stag. we don't make many like this one.

thanks, it is a multi-step process of white wine vinegar, a resist and then ferric chloride for the dark areas.

Thats an excellent capture of the old style craftsmanship. The etch looks like the patina my old hand me down had. What was the ratio for the ferric chloride to water?
 
Thanks much. I couldn't say what acid ratio I use. I heat my water just a bit and add two good size chunks of ferric. I use solid ferric chloride that I have left over from my old job as a chemist. Two ping pong size chunks with a warmed gallon of water. The solid ferric is easier to use and it was free. Gotta love that. The company had to pay for chemical disposal, so they were happy to give me a ton of ferric, etc.
