This seems to be the week for hawk's.
Here is my first attempt at forging a hawk and it won't be my last. I have seen, and like, a lot of hawk's on the forum lately. I have never tried forging one before so I had to give it a try. Definitely a learning experience, and very enjoyable. The head is 8 1/2" with a 3 1/2" cutting edge from a 2003 F350 leaf spring, the haft is 18 5/8" of burnt walnut. The head is attached with four pins, epoxy and rawhide wrapped. The grip is wrapped with rawhide also.
I blame John Cohea's work for giving me the inspiration to attempt this. I have a long way to go to catch up to John, but I now have a start.
Any and all comments are welcome.
