Checkering File

So, after buying some new steel and equipment, I've decided that a checkering file is essential to my shop... any suggestions on where to find the best tool at the best price? Thanks fellow knife canines.

Ive looked around for a while all the ones i find are around $60
Or if i remember correctly those where the 40/inch, the 20 were slightly cheaper?

Grobet files are the best I have found. They make a 20 lpi for use with on steel. The West Coast supplier is b2b. Phone is (760) 322-6037. Ask for Tom. It's called a Pillar Checkering File. They also make a Knife File for jimping.

I fully agree on the Grobet files. I only wish someone made and sold a 10 lpi file.

Get a 20 lpi. Can't get one any bigger as no one makes them! Like I stated above, I wish someone made a 10 lpi.

I agree - I would jump on a 10 lpi but Grobet quit making them. I think 20 lpi is all they make, but Tom at b2b will know.

I have the thread cleaning file at work I tried it, it does work sort of but not near as good as a cherckering file, the checkering file dont always cut as deep as needed but the thread repair file doesnt cut deep at all, but it is better than nothing
