No it's that gaudy stuff most people think about when they hear the word Dymond wood.
When my customer orderd this all he said was that he wanted one of my Hise Hunter models with a wood handel, thats all he told me. So, not wanting to dissapoint,I came up with this variation of that model.
This is the first time I've ever dovetailed the bolsters on a fixed blade knife,I am happy with the results.
The blade is .125" thick,4 9/16" long with a false edge on the curved part of the spine and jimping on the spine just ahead of the bolsters. I made the blade of D-2 tool steel, heat treated it to 61.75 Rc,ground the bevels with a high hollow grind on a 14" wheel then hand rubbed it to 400 grit. The bolsters are 416 stainless steel, pinned, peined and dovetailed. The spacers I made from some material that is commonly used for guitar pick guards. The dymond wood is glued and pinned and the nickel silver lanyard hole liner is peined as well to help hold it all together then all is hand rubbed to 400 grit and polished. The knife over all is 9 1/16" long.
I hope he likes it!
Ya'll enjoy the crappy photos and as always, comments, compliments and constructive criticism are welcome.
