Hi everyone,
Just got back last night from a trip to North Carolina and a class at the Haywood college. This new ABS class was taught by Kevin Cashen.
My first time taking a class with Kevin and he is a fantastic instructor.
I've crammed a whole lot of knife making info into a week(a very COLD week!)
Here are some pics to help tell the story.

These blades are all hand forged.....mine is the one on the left.

My blade with a guard Kevin forged out and I ground and then fit.

They had two of these tire hammers at the school...I heard they offer a class where you can build one of these and take it home! I was very impressed with these compact thumpy hammers.

All blades were forged out of Aldo Bruno 1095!!!!

The week before heading south I called Bill to see what the weather was going to be like...he said it would be in the 40's maybe even hit the 50's.
I thought it would be a nice break from the cold north and even brought a pair of shorts with me!!!
Bill lied to me......

Here is a blackwood handle Kevin made...there is silver and brass wire inlayed.

I really had a great time! I would like to thank Kevin for being a wonderfull insructor...and Bill Wiggins for being a great host....Bill opend his shop to us to use and hang out in after class.
If you get the chance to hit Haywood for a class I highly recomend it!
